Do not leave the weak behind, Megatron

I fell out with Megatron, my arch-rival. He says when one is not great, he cannot bring acceptance for his being as a person. He doesn't accept substandard work, even if they're the best the person can give.

Doesn't he know that some people are just struggling to survive? Try being unemployed for years, like what I and my friends have experienced.

Especially one of the scientist friend we know. Sure, he also gained acceptance of his work to the people around him, as he's the smartest scientist we ever met. But maths teachers don't see his lack of understanding in maths and left him hanging dry, so he failed math and hence, entry into uni, where everyone seems to assume he'll be in. That's why he's unemployed for 15 months and more, now we can do little to gain his trust. He's in survival mode, surviving on just ovatine and biscuits.

And you know what Megatron did? He harmed that friend whom I'm not gonna name as he accused that friend for not trying hard enough!

We're self-aware enough to know that we have to be "mediocre" because we do not have the conditions for greatness, as we're not yet given the opportunities to do great things in life. We're still struggling for survival!

So your friend thinks that only great people are deserving of acceptance and respect? He might be reminded that "great" people--who are they anyway?--don't get to the top alone. In the theater we have a tradition that at curtain call we acknowledge all those who help out behind the scenes and make it possible for the actors to do what they do. Are those people less great because they are not in the spotlight?

To me greatness is not a matter of wealth or fame. Greatness is an attitude. St. Therese of Lisieux talked a lot about doing little things with the same attention to detail as you would devote to the big things. Whatever your station in life is do it to the best of your ability. Because we all have a part to play in this play called life.

For Megatron, he seems to treat others for granted. If people are deemed less able, they have to serve their 'masters', which is not a good experience for most of them, or they fail and get dismissed by Megatron.

I feel that Megatron just wants everyone to support him, because he feels he can do a lot of good to our world, and others are just obstructing him on his way to success.

Imagine this: people are not in the spotlight, because they simply do not have the opportunities yet to be in the spotlight, that is, getting what they truly want - recognition of playing a leading role in whatever they do. Waiting for such opportunities can be a long and lengthy process, and some don't get it. Hence they are deemed to be less great. But perception is not reality - sometimes, what touches the audience's hearts may not be even leads, but memorable supporting characters.

Indeed, greatness is an attitude, and it's best if we do the minor things with detail and heart. We all can add to life. :D
