Post gas crunch era where we could buy running viable V-8 cars for $100

This was the beginning of the rise in fuel prices where they went up to as high as $1.25 a gallon.
Prior to that, we paid about $.44-$.49 a gallon for premium fuel, so everyone wanted off their gas guzzlers and only the motorheads wanted them
