Do you strangely associate lyrics with current events or etc ?

I did with Depeche Mode's 'Never let me down again' and 9/11 when my mom bought me their 'music for the masses' album.

For me the 'I'm taking a ride with my best friend' lyrics from the song made me think about the delusion of safety and "I hope he never let's me down again' made me think about how the security failed to check out the hijackers :/

I apologize for bringing that even up but after listening to it again after so many years reminded me when I used to listen to whole album over and over again. I guess it was a strange way of cooping after a month when the attacks happened.

People have argued with me that the true meaning of the song 'Never let me down again' was about homosexuality, but I intrepid the lyrics differently. I also do this with other songs, where I'll associate some lyrics with something and be lost in my fantasy world I'm in when I walk down the halls of the school. I'm weird like that where I got some sort of strange euphoria being lost in a sort of "Action hero saving the day" kind of fantasy. This probably hits home for a lot of people who are similar like this and I guess being strange like this makes me ashamed of admitting it or trying to explain to people why I do the things I do.

This is why I liked the "A view to a kill" song and fantasizing a romantic setting of being in Bond's shoes and saving the the girl I had a crush on like in the movie lol I'm so freaking weird XD

Anyone do a similar thing or am I a true oddball ?

I am affected by music in strange ways. I also get lost, or zone out, experiencing a song. I have strong emotions tied to music.
I find my own meaning in songs too. Sometimes I learn that I am wayyyyyy of base too.

I suppose there are a few songs that I associate with certain memories, but nothing that exclusive.

I tend to do it more with certain events in history, either significant or not, and remember where I was in my life at that point.
