A Farnham man has taken up a hairy challenge.

Ben Shiell is aiming to grow a beard for for a year to raise money for the National Autistic Society.

His son Noah has autism - Ben tells us it was his all his idea.

He said his 9 year old finds beards amusing - and was curious to see what his dad would look like: "He absolutely loves it.

"He's always found it quite funny when I've grown a beard before, and wanted me to grow it for an entire year.

"And from my own personal point of view it seemed like quite a good idea to do something very visual to raise awareness of an invisible disability."

"So we started on the 2nd of April which is World Autism Awareness Day, and it'll run until the 2nd of April this year."

Ben has already exceeded his fundraising target of £200.

He is having a shave when he reaches his one year target.

You can follow Ben's progress on his facebook page.
