Five items your fridge must have.....

For reference, here’s my fridge.
I don’t know why people assume I eat a lot of junk food. I mostly cook and make sandwiches.

This is an awesome thread to post. I like to see what everyone else says. Five items my fridge must have are:

Milk
Water
Butter
Fruits
Ranch for food

Fresh eggs (but if you know someone with hens, or if you have hens, eggs can go on the counter)
Butter so I can bake. I usually use powdered milk because I'm not rich.
Pickles. Spicy ones, dill pickles, or sweet pickles are all good.
Leftovers to cook fun stuff with.
Cheese, because it's super versatile & there are different kinds.

Forgot about eggs and yogurt. They are a staple for me too.
And pickles, and bacon…

I'm surprised people refrigerate onions and potatoes. I didn't think you were supposed to do that.

Miso
Mayo
Milk
Cheese
Eggs

You aren’t. Onions should be refrigerated after being cut and potatoes only after being cooked. Onions and Potatoes continue to grow in cold damp environments.

I do. They keep longer that way. And that saves a ton of money. Everything goes into the refrigerator. Think of cold storage in the old days.

How do you think you get fresh apples or potatoes in January? Unless the food was imported, they were stored for months, at near-freezing, in refrigerated warehouses.

Trust me. I have 19 years of mom-dom under my belt. I know a thing or two about food storage.

And besides, you can take the little greens off the onions or garlic, and eat them. You can also plant any sprouted vegetable in soil. You do this by soaking the vegetable in water, until the roots grow out a little further. Then, just plant it like you would any vegetable start.

I purposely look at the grocery store for celery, cabbage, leeks, etc that still have intact root ends. My intent is to eat the vegetable, and plant the roots, thus growing more food.

The eyes of potatoes can be cut off along with a tiny bit of the potato, and planted. Every little nubby on a potato eye will grow to be a new potato in less than a year.

You plant all your potato eyes in a large planter, or bucket with holes in the bottom. You can continuously do this, with every new batch of potato eyes from grocery store potatoes. And once all the greens die back, you flip the planter upside down, and fish out the potatoes. The immature ones go right back into the planter along with any new potato eyes from grocery store potatoes. There you go. You are on the first step to self-sufficiency.

you keep your money in the fridge?

Why not under the bed like most other folks?
I keep my money under the giant pile of trash in the middle of the floor! I mean what robber in their right mind will go through literal garbage to find cash and valuables?

My ideal 5
Chocolate mousse
Chocolate gnache covered cake
Cold brew coffee
Salted Carmel creamer
Bag of Einstein bagels the everything bagel
I could get thru anything with that lineup.
