Hi everyone...

Hi, everyone...I'm a NT partner to an autistic man (both in our mid-30s, together for like 10 years and married for 5 or so of those). We love each other very much, and on the whole offer each other great support and communication but due to life and difficult changes in health and the like I've been feeling an increasing need for support from others who understand and may even be in the same circumstances. That's a whole other thread and I'm feeling delicate because of a recent outburst of my husband's, but I look forward to seeing how these forums work and what they have to offer!

Hi and Welcome! I don't mean to frighten you but you have stumbled on a whole nest of them.

Just joking. I love this photo from the old classic Sci-Fi 'Creation of the Humanoids'. It's silly but also how I actually feel sometimes.

Now while the regular membership and (volunteer) Mods are nearly all on the spectrum we do get tons of NT visitors, usually trying to gain some better understanding of autism. Sometimes we can help, sometimes not, but we do at least try usually and also keep things friendly as much as possible.

Partnerships always experience strains due to life changes, but the one thing you mention that might be related to autism is the outburst. NTs of course have outbursts too, but with autists the causes and expression can be different.

Welcome @NTPartner hope you gain some better understanding. People on the forums share to different degrees here, and there are plenty who would be willing to answer any questions or thoughts you may have.

Thank you so much. At the end of the day that's all any of us can do, right? Already I appreciate the warmth and understanding that's been shown, and look forward to participating in the future. I've never seen the movie, but great screen grab :D
