Great questions.

A wolf is part of a pack. An M & M when around other M &Ms are often seen as part of a pack, or in a pack.

"Easier to crack if clear" just meant not only that I thought the riddle could be easier to crack/solve, if I worded the riddle clearly with many tips pointing in one direction, but with me suggesting the answer could have a shell or be made of some other material that could break easily.
 
As for the scarlet letter riddle part, I basically said the answer involved some item that wears/is stamped with a letter, not the red letter A though..It is a white lowercase m.

The misspelling as "Scarlett" led us (my mother and I) to wonder if it was referencing someone's surname.
 
A burst of energy to some I at the first may give;

It's a synthetic stimulant, is used in various forms in many ADHD medications, among other uses, and popular for illicit use. It seemed to fit quite nicely, though I doubted you meant that, hence the wink! Was not a serious answer.
