Sir Christopher Lee dies at 93 - latest reaction and tributes - Telegraph

Sir Christopher Lee, a screen legend greatly praised for playing Dracula, Saruman The White, Darth Tyranus and Francisco Scaramanga among many other memorable characters, has passed away after suffering heart and respiratory problems. He was 93.

My favorite story about him: While filming Saruman's death scene for Return Of The King, Lee acted as someone truly would if they'd been stabbed in the back. Peter Jackson told him it didn't look realistic enough and Lee calmly explained that as a secret agent during WW2, he had personally witnessed many people die that way and he knew exactly what it looked like. Jackson kept the take and never questioned him again.

His name may have begun with "L", but I always thought he put the "H" into Hammer Films. One of horror's greatest.

He had a very interesting and accomplished life. I loved him as dracula , Scaramunga and Lord Summerisle. I didn't know he was in Lord of the rings till I actually saw it , and thought : Is that Christopher Lee? He must be 100! But he still had it.
RIP.
