Sad, Sad Songs

Bert Jansch - Needle of Death

Leonard Cohan - Famous Blue Raincoat

Lou Reed and John Cale - Hello It's Me

"I Was A Cage" by Right Away, Great Captain

Usually when I have any kind of intense emotion tied to a song it's because that song is tied to a memory/person/specific time in my life, but this song is one of the few that shatters me into a million pieces in the best way possible for no reason other than the song itself.

You can't get much darker than Mahler's Kindertotenlieder ("songs on the deaths of children," I think)

My favorite recording of this symphony...always nice when you can find specific ones on YouTube. Nobody does sad quite like Tchaikovsky.
