Moderators should not facilitate the development of a clique/groupthink culture.
As you said, it drives moderate individuals away.
It is also against what autism is all about, imo.


I find this bewildering.
We lack theory of mind but are expected to intimately understand the minds/mindset of other ppl.
Some ppl simply lack enlightenment in what it means to be on the spectrum.

I think internet reduces empathy. Even if the people themselves would almost certainly have direct experience of being reprimanded for not 'reading the room' as they would say. Perhaps the cruelty is the point.

Having searched the forum on here, im not sure how the mods feel about talking about this topic!

I have mentioned numerous times that I am convinced the anonymity of the internet causes much of the bad behaviour online.
Saying the same thing face to face has "consequences", to put it mildly. :screamcat:

Refusing to engage is a choice, like you pointed out, and is not the absence of opinion, it's the presence of one. It's rejecting views which do not seem positive. I often get similar critques for my religious disbelief, because it would be considered "a lack of belief" which can be equated or somehow led to the conclusion of not having any other belief, or accepted belief, and this would be a flaw of some sort. But it's not.
 
I think there is also a general bad tempered-ness as well that makes people rude and unfriendly, my theory is the alienation of technology and over stimulation. Its like were not equipped to deal with this amount of opinion and information.

However this site seems like the exception to the rule!

Such activity happened to us here but on a small scale very recently. It's definitely not the entire website, but I would caution anyone. And here you actually have the ignore button.
 
Some people get banned there if they mention that website anonymously here because mods are lurking since the site got hacked last. And the hack also brought members here, scared of the dangers I guess.
