This is what the UK does to it's citizens

Vulnerable man starved to death after benefits were cut | Society | The Guardian

The most sick thing here (which is saying something) is that the court decided that the dwp wasn't really to blame because he was given some money by his mother, thus strongly implying (ha!) that the dwp's removal of his benefits didn't really matter as much.

Make no mistake, the uk is being run by heartless people who just cover their own backs. It stinks.

Just as an extra thing, ATOS (a French company contracted to the assessments for eligibility for benefits) has quit it's contract a year early. Their reputation is not in tatters, it is permanently stained and ATOS will forever be a name associated with cruelty.

Atos contract comes to an end bringing much relief for campaigners | Society | theguardian.com

Of course, the ministers are still in their well-paid jobs, and are not to blame (yeah, riiiiight!!). Always have scapegoats and blame others. It is sick, inhumane and treats people who are disadvantaged with no dignity or compassion at all.

The most unbelievably cruel thing that comes out of this, is that they are still maintaining that there is no evidence that this testing has caused deaths of people in the system. I'm pretty sure that this official stance will be switched once the people at the top have been paid off with fat pensions and removed from any possible consequences for their actions.

Not just in the UK, same $#!t here in the US.

True, it is not a national problem, it is a Global problem. There was a time that our countries were run by the richest, most corrupt people. But now it is a global economy, and they now run the world. It does not matter which flag we wave, we all slave for the same bosses, and their only loyalty is to money.

I am personally a very political person but i have absolutely NO faith in ANY "Politician".
I see politics as powers that be dictating to the dumb (their opinion) masses.
Divide and rule.
Dog eat dog.
Profits over people.
The Corporations rule the roost.
It's Socialism for big business as in WE bail them out.
And Capitalism for us,only the strong survive.
I'll say no more before my head explodes.

But, at the sharp end, people are dying because of a lack of humanity. I am personally glad that ATOS is no longer doing its dirty work. I am sure another organisation will do it in their place, one step removed from the government whose duty is supposed to be for it's citizens.

I know it's no use bemoaning politics, but if I come across anyone in real life who agrees with what the government has done I will not hold back. I haven't met anyone yet who agrees with it. Has anyone?!!

I think fundamentally people vote for selfish reasons.
I know folk who couldn't give a damn about the vulnerable is society.
We are conditioned to fight amongst ourselves.

That's pretty close to my greatest fear. That if I fail in using only my own resources to perpetuate my life, I will likely die. I have no faith in any mechanism of society or government that would effectively reach out to me if I needed help. I would simply fall between the cracks of established policies of indifferent bureaucrats and simply become a statistic.

Too old to be hired by any employer cognizant of healthcare costs, too qualified for lesser jobs. And I haven't held a steady job in many years....so there MUST be something "wrong" with me having got sidetracked for years as a caregiver to my mother.

And if my resources run completely out, I'd still be expected to look for work even if I no longer had the ability to do so. In this decaying orbit of a life, "Plan A" comes up a lot...

Personally I'm looking forward to it. The only times I feel happy & peaceful is when I've decided on Plan A. The problem is, I keep falling for the ridiculous emotional ploy of false hope, which I'm convinced is planted intentionally because they find entertainment in watching us work towards something that cannot ever be achieved. And every time, I get kicked in the teeth by the same people who plant false hope. Each time it happens, it hurts worse.

Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will break my spirit.

"planted intentionally because they find entertainment"
Well i have found that most people in positions of power on any level are Sociopaths.
The bain of my life.
I can almost smell them.
And they can see me like i am Frodo with the Ring on.
And they send out their agents to seek me out.
The psychology of sociopaths is fascinating.
How NT's are unconscious their lies and manipulation.

I still find it amusing that I had to explain Schadenfreude to my therapist.

I also had to explain to her why people make money when their stock splits. Wall St pretends it's about numbers, but it's really all about psychology. Still giggling about that one.

The quality of a society is determined by how it treats the "least" of its citizens.

Around here, the poor get taxed more than anywhere else in Canada. And if you're unable to work and don't have kids, good luck finding anything better than a room in a rooming house with a hot plate, a mattress filled with bedbugs, and a bathroom that's barely above "outhouse".

In the meantime, a family that pretends to be rich (the way they used to be before they squandered the fortune their father earned them) gets a museum built in their honour. Wait. Two museums.

The reason ATOS quit their contract was because so many people were hating on them. Members of staff were getting death threats, their offices were being swamped by complaints. People power at work !! :)
