(Not written by me. One paragraph omitted due to relation to 'vaccine argument')
CD Autism an online movement that promotes the use of chlorine dioxide to cure children with Autism claims they have healed over 180 children. Chlorine dioxide, used in wood bleaching and water treatment can cause an array of side effects if ingested in larger doses such as internal bleeding.
At a conference in 2014, Kerri Rivera who is not licensed physician, begins her presentation with a slide that reads "What is Autism?" a question she never actually answers. She bypasses answering it by suggesting all people with Autism have certain “things” in common virus, bacteria, candida, parasites, heavy metals, inflammation and food allergies. Then moves on to say Autism not a lack of supplements.
Finally, Rivera states Autism is an excess of pathogens. By eliminating virus, bacteria, candida, parasites, heavy metals, inflammation and food allergies a person can begin to heal and that during the elimination process the heavy load on the immune system is removed thereby allowing it to function properly.
Autism, as defined by the medical community, is a range of complex neurodevelopment disorders, characterized by social impairments, communication difficulties, and restricted, repetitive, and stereotyped patterns of behavior. Autism varies significantly in character and severity for each individual person. To date there is no medical test for Autism some children with autism have experienced abdominal issues related to their condition but this has never been scientifically proven to be related to parasites. Children with Autism have sensory processing issue which is related to the nervous system and can affect abdominal pain and digestion.
To date there is no known cure for Autism. While through intense daily therapy higher functioning children do move on to intermix well with mainstream students, not all children with Autism gain that ability. Parents of this group of children on the spectrum stand at grave risk of people like Rivera who throw out claims that they can heal and cure children with Autism through poison.
Although Rivera argues there is nothing toxic about the “protocol” she does admit chlorine dioxide is used as a bleaching agent in industrial practice. She believes chlorine dioxide will heal Autism and those who oppose her are just merely ridiculing her truth. Her “protocol” has been known to cause hellacious diarrhea and blood in the stool, if curing Autism translates to internal bleeding and extreme dehydration than I suppose Rivera has a winner.
Without scientific evidence or FDA approval Rivera charges each parent $113 or 100 euro for a consultation and another $67 or 60 euro for a follow up all done by skype and speculation. She pushes a $26 book which currently has a second edition to guide parents through the poisoning process. Although she claims over 100 children were healed of Autism and argues these were some of the sickest kids who had no where else to turn proving that is entirely different. On the website CD Autism there is an entire page devoted to miracles, the biggest problem with this page is it is all parents speaking and no one with Autism.
At a conference in 2014 Rivera did produce a child named Rachel who claimed to have been healed from Autism because her mom told her she was. Throughout every carefully produced video by Rivera’s company one thing that struck me as odd, for a company claiming to hold the cure for 70 million people globally they never actually use the words cure except for on the web page once claiming Autism is curable. They choose careful language like “lose their autism diagnosis” and there website strictly states The information presented on this website is not intended or implied to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
Rivera’s “Protocol” or “Miracle Mineral Supplement” is actually sodium chlorite, a toxic and reactive compound. The main application of sodium chlorite is the generation of chlorine dioxide for bleaching and stripping of textiles, pulp, and paper. The FDA has only approved it use under some conditions for disinfecting water used to wash fruits, vegetables, and poultry. Not for children to ingest at large uncontrolled quantities.
I did make an attempt to contact Kerri Rivera and CD Autism, but they ignored my request.
