I have to share this somewhere, and this space seems the most appropriate.
Today I was getting off the ferry with a lot of stuff on my hands. The express bus no longer runs at this hour.
I had $20 and decided to go for a taxi and look for three other people to join me. People don't seem to be coming, and the taxi rate to my place is about $70. This man comes up and says, I am also going to town, come and I will pay the difference. I thought that was awesome and got in the car. From the few words he said and the way he looked at his phone I got a sense (with my 6th sense, of course) that he was an Aspie, but my own Aspie nature made me crawl into my shell and not say anything. I was curious the whole way but kept silent and stared out of the window. Then he asked the driver to be dropped off first and said I could pay the $20 bucks for the trip from his house to mine. Well, greats. As he got dropped off, he paid for his trip AND paid ahead for mine. He didn't smile (or barely), his voice didn't change. He wished the best and left. Thank you, mystery man, I will always remember your kindness. Is it the collective Aspie consciousness or something?
