A poem: Media in mind

I write this poem the other day. What inspired it was me thinking about my friend, who is going through a hard time right now. She is very private, tried to hide how she feels a lot. Sometimes I feel it gets in the way of our relationship. Prehaps this is made more of a problem by my inability to sometimes 'read her'. I used the metaphor of film, because that is what I wish thoughts were projected as films for others.... but also because thoughts can be as vivid as a film. Sometimes I tend to think in pictures. Anyway, I called the poem 'Media in Mind':

I wish I could read your thoughts,
Unfold them as they occur
I wish I could watch them as I watch others on a screen,
Observing difference and pattern between grainy, pixelated images;
And blade sharp, high definition.

We could sit together, after the broadcast-
The part that refuses to remain inside
The part that frequencies warp and change-
Sit and try to untangle knotted film
Make sense of edge fog
Flag the flares, and find new filters-
Set foundations of cement.

If I could reach inside your mind
Perhaps the wall would break
The brick divide between show and hide
Selves that go unseen,
Selves that live in guise.

If I could tell this from your gaze
Or know your reasons why,
I would see your core diverge
From what inversion may imply
