It's my belief high functioning and Aspergers [higher functioning] can help modify their behaviors via positive motivational quotes, stories etc to have a positive attitude, reward themselves for baby steps and make social [albeit slow] progress. This would also apply per depression and other social foibles.
One example would be if person A gets excited when he sees people he likes [or strangers when he's really isolated and wants to talk.] He/she would write down "tone it down" on an index card and carry that card with him/her till they memorized it. To stay motivated [plus to fight depression and the negative psychological affects of Aspergers] they would daily listen to, read and maybe write down positive motivational thoughts.
Well that's just off the top of my head but I'm doing research in the field on this right now Whaddya think?
