The ending to this drama

Shelter drama is a special type of drama.

Think about ego issues combined with paranoia combined with a healthy dose of narcissism and a complete and utter lack of manners... along with a loud voice.

That's a lot of shelter women. Many of them are abusers themselves, that left just to keep from going to jail. Others are drug addicts looking for a place to lay their head and get lots of freebies so they can spend any money they get on drugs. The vast majority of them are "easy" women that are just looking for a guy to fill their pockets.

Last night, someone brought a non-clear container upstairs. I gently reminded her we are only supposed to have clear containers, because she's been here less than a week. She argued with me about that, so I let it drop.

Then I was talking about how I found out I'm one of those rare people that metabolized naproxen in such a way it can throw up a false positive for pot on a drug test, so I always have to request the test be sent to a lab. Let me explain - the tests they use that are just 5 minutes are quite prone to false positives. When a sample gets sent to a lab, though, they can do a lot more to determine the source of the false positive. I'm not going to bother posting links about it here... if you really want to know the entire process in depth, though, you can hit up a search engine about it.

She told me naproxen is prescription only. I said no, it's the generic name for Aleve. I literally ended up having to show her on Google that it's the generic name of Aleve. She said well the prescription is much stronger. I said, it just combines two Aleve in one pill. I know a lot about this because it's the only NSAID that works on migraines for me, and I often will get the prescription form just so I don't have to pay for so much Aleve making up for the prescription strength. The prescription is 500mg. The OTC form is around 250mg. So two of the OTC pills make up one of the prescription strength ones. I've had doctors ask me why I don't just buy Aleve, and ask for the prescription, and I tell them - so my insurance will pay for some of it and save me money! They laugh.

Anyhow, evidently this lady decided to have a big problem with me because I just showed her she was definitively wrong about something. So she started another argument over the door policy. The door policy is it should stay closed for privacy and security, but leaving it cracked to let air through is okay. She doesn't understand this. She thinks it's supposed to stay wide open. I gave up on that one. But then...

She started telling me why she thought I was exiting and what my case was. She knows nothing about any of that. I told her to stop telling me about myself. And she blew the f up at me. "I'M JUST SAYING WHAT THE DIRECTOR TOLD ME, YOU'RE MESSING WITH THE WRONG WOMAN LITTLE GIRL..." at this point I just walked out... and she continued to scream at me, "GO DOWNSTAIRS AND CRY".

I just chilled in the TV room until I was sure she had stopped raging, and came back upstairs.

This morning, I decided to clarify the door policy with staff. She comes downstairs. I wasn't talking about her AT ALL. I just wanted to know if there had been a change in the rules. She interrupted me to start ranting about how the only reason I was asking that was we got into an argument, and basically hijacked my conversation that had nothing to do with her to rage at the front desk about me from LAST NIGHT. At one point I came downstairs and literally called down, my conversation had nothing to do with YOU, and you just interrupted me. And of course, I was held responsible for not just being quiet and letting her do her thing with continuing to harass me simply for disagreeing and letting her know it's not okay to tell me about myself when you don't even know me and you don't even know this shelter.

Sounds like a woman with an axe to grind who's looking for somewhere to grind it! I hate to think of good people going through confrontations like that. I respect your strength for coping with it.

My time here ends Wednesday because I paid bills before I came here, and also bought the things I needed like a warm coat and transportation when they kept telling me they couldn't help me. Since I didn't save half of my monthly income from the day I entered a week into the new month after paying bills, they won't let me into the extended program.

I think it's for the best though. I haven't been able to work or go to school in this environment. And the other day I finally ended up self injuring. I'm on klonopin now though so that won't continue.

Have you got somewhere lined up to go to? I don't like to think you getting out of the frying pan to land in the fire.
