"I have the cure"

There is a greek mythologic story about Pandora's box. By opening the box, all kinds of illnesses dissipate and enter men's lives. From now on, men will face diseases, aging, misery, hunger, war, betrayal, passion, trickery, and so on. Out of the box, a last thing comes out.
Hope. Inside their struggles, men received hope.

Men learned to use and manipulate all kind of stuffs. Wood. Forks. Sounds. Fire. Communication. Feelings. Others. Animals. Whatever. Men even learned to manipulate other people's despair and hope for an escape out of their situation. Soon enough, they started selling stories and cures, using people's hope for their benefit. Some men sell indeed something. A substance that can ease the pain. A shelter that can protect from misery. A real knowledge that's useful in creating something in the reality. Some men don't even sell what they have, they give.
Some others sell absolutely nothing to the despaired ones. Look in their pockets. They claim they have a cure, but no matter how you look, they pockets seem empty. There's just a story in the mouth, and the gesture of their hand takes rather than gives. The precious cure that solves it all remains as insivible as air. You've just assisted to a magic trick. There was nothing, there's still nothing, just the power of manipulation that uses your hope, despair and illness. There is no magic cure in the world because the world isn't magic. The world is physical, it consists in actual, factual, observable phenomenons. Do not be abused by people who have nothing to give and have empty hands ready to take rather than to give anything. Always check what you're buying and to whom. Always check any type of story.

Do not renounce your critical thinking and your judgement no matter what. Do not stop rational questionning and reasoning. Do not let anybody manipulate your thoughts, observations and perception.

I read again recently the beggining of the Odyssey. Ulysses cries for 7 years on a beach, while he's perfectly taken care of on an island with a beautiful woman. He has eternity to live, no death, no disease, none of that. He's still in total despair and depression. No, Ulysses didn't need to change his thoughts about his situation nor his feelings about it. He needed to change his situation. Not because of the situation itself, maybe. Because he was an individual. Because he was just himself. No, he didn't need to change himself, no he didn't need to live an other story and get rid of himself. He needed to work on making his life satisfying FOR HIM. Not for an other. There was no cure for Ulysses. No miracle. No magic. No thought issue. No emotional issue. Just a human being reacting to what happens in HIS LIFE, just an individual with an individual behaviour, with individual needs, will, hopes, emotions, reactions, and so on. A complete human being, with his own story, struggles, and issues, that might not be rational, that might not be an other's, but that are his.
