# 13 On Accumulating Junk

Well, since I was up & useless, I decided to push myself (almost needed a cattle prod!) & get something done. There were some hidden pockets of junk floating around. There were 3 handbags I had that I never ever carry. There was an accumulation of well organized papers BUT none of it was anything I'd ever need for any good reason-so out into the recycling it went. There were expired medications (those go to a disposal thingy at the pharmacy) & odds & ends of fabrics from my sewing days. All that is going to the fabric recycling place today. Found some silly things like worn out socks & worn our gloves etc. that it behoves me to explain why I even owned. Needless to say, they're getting recycled.

THere are shoes that I can't wear because they hurt my feet. Someone else can give them a go. AAAHHHHH... feels so good to be rid of this stuff & whenever I do this, I wonder what role all this crap & dross plays in feeling drained or bogged down. I think it exists (metaphorically) in our brains because somewhere in our head, the brain knows it is there. Like a virus in your computer, I think it slows down our processing. Before I give in to bone idleness & the compulsion to just lie down right here & sleep, I'm going to dive back in & get rid of more stuff.

THe strange thing is, I could've sworn that all junk had been eradicated. Had I convinced myself that this stuff wasn't truly junk & that I might use it at some future date? Must be the case because it was all folded & placed neatly. This proves that even junk can trick an innocent Aspie by masquerading as something tidy. Don't be fooled!

For some reason, I feel relieved knowing that this stuff, that wasn't harming anyone & that was neatly stored is GONE!

I agree it dose bogg u down mentally. And right now I am about at my worst point with that. I just am so bogged down with clutter right now and every day say 'tomarrow', and then tomarrow I just might start a little then get side tracked or can't even seem to get started at all. Over the past several months my life become way to full and overwhelmeing and eveything seemed to 'pile up' on me. The circumstances I had that caused my time to overfilled has been releived. Now once I get motivated to get the physical clutter out of the way I know I will feel so much better!
