Eating Healthier

Well once again I've decided to try to eat healthier. I've made up a grocery list of stuff to buy when I get off work. Brown rice. Frozen vegetables. I've done some browsing and found a brand that looks good that i'd like to try. They have bags of pre-cut vegetables that the bag says to just boil in broth or water and they're ready. They make a bag of onions and peppers that i'd like to buy and put in eggs but idk if my local store sells that particular variety. I hope so. Eggs are healthy and that's all I can think to put in them that I've eaten before. I wanna start with stuff I've had before. Eggs, minute brown rice, frozen veggies like carrots, onions, peppers, etc. I was born with a heart condition and although my parents growing up never paid it any mind my doctor does. Idk if its just standard procedure or not, I've never looked into if I need to pay attention to heart health or not. I've also got a latent autoimmune condition and my mom said that like with my sister, having one might lead to me developing another. My sister has celiacs which I have read can run in families. So I want to try to eat healthier. Its an easy way to diet so I can lose a few pounds I don't like seeing on my body even if its still in the healthy for my height range. Plus its a foundation for a healthier diet all around whether or not I develop any conditions I'm at risk for. Going frozen and canned and boxed for now is fine but what i'd like to work up to someday is to be able to buy fresh and spend a day or two making food for the week. Plus I'm gonna buy bolthouse smoothie drinks cause it claims to have 2 servings of fruit per serving. I dont like the texture of raw fruit and actually making smoothies all the time sounds like such a hassle. Even if it might be cheaper. Big might, yogurt's expensive.

My only real big issue is snack food. I'm a big chip and soda eater and I'll need to address that. I like goldfish pretzel-cheddar flavor mix, but idk that they're much better for you than chips. Same goes with crackers. I've had gluten-free rice crackers from a particular brand that I loved but I'd have to go out of town to get more. My store doesn't sell that flavor that I love. Plus I eat them like chips so it doesn't help. The goldfish are good to start with though, I guess. I've been pouring a modest serving in a bowl and eating them like that so a bag lasts longer than the suggested serving size. *sigh* My only fear is that it won't taste as good as I'm used to or I won't be able to come up with enough of a variety to keep me interested in eating healthier. I have a habit of being really restricting too in my definition of what's healthy food, and a fear of cooking in front of other people. But i'm picky cause food texture issues - like raw fruit and most cooked meat. That's why i'm buying eggs and canned beans today, cause aside from chicken and cheese its the only protein source I can count on.

Another issue is breakfast. I've tried a single serving bowl of instant oatmeal flavored and I didn't like it. Couldn't stand the mushiness of it. I'm used to bowl breakfast food being crunchier like cereal and i'm not much of a cereal person. I just didn't grow up with it. Growing up my mom would make pancakes or muffins and buy bananas and that's the sort of food we ate growing up for breakfast. She thought it would be cheap buying us just cereal cause that's what she grew up with.
