I Want To Buy A Home

I have no money, but I want to buy a home in the States now.

While I am ok with owning properties in inner-city Ireland, inner-city Britain, western Sydney (the 'ghetto' of Sydney, Australia), western Auckland and inner-city Canada - thing is, I don't have money. So by right, I shouldn't even think of owning properties in the States.

I feel like I am in the right fit in the places above. Even if I became lucky to be a Cub, I'm still, well, a laid-back and unsophisticated person.

But then, there's also the States...

Employment is always a chore. Especially so when you know a little on what will increase in value, and what will not.

$700,000 for a house in San Francisco! That's a more beautiful place to live than say, Singapore. And guess the price for housing in Singapore? I'll quote it in US$. $1 million in my area alone! And I'm speaking about median price.

Wow, as someone who has been out there hunting for a house, I'm sure glad I live where I live. Here are housing prices in my area: if you want a decent home that doesn't require too much fixing up, is fairly new, in a good neighborhood (suburban/rural), you are going to pay around $140,000. It depends on your school system. I live in an area that has a good school system so everyone wants to move here and taxes are high.

The bad news is that I cannot, no way, afford a $140,000 house. I cannot even afford a $50,000 house. Anyway, trust me, you do not want anything under $80,000. Even that is borderline "slum". I have seen some real nightmares. And don't talk to me about all those wonderful foreclosures out there that you can get for almost nothing. Almost nothing is exactly what you will get. Some of these houses have been stripped of everything. One house, all that was left was the kitchen sink and I think it was because the vandals didn't have time to take it or they would have as well.

Now, if you want to buy a real cheap mobile home and share in the joys of trailer park living, I know just where to steer you . . .

Oh, and it doesn't matter that you don't have any money, either. The banks don't care and the Realtors don't care. There is something called Rural Development Loan where you don't have to put any money down. That is all they said I qualify for. You would not believe how eager these people are to sell me a house when they know darn well that I can't afford it. So much for "tightening up credit".
