No, that's not a typo.
My last day of work was Wednesday (due to Thanksgiving on Thursday here in the US), and yes, I consider it a good thing.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the place I worked at. I loved the people, the management rocked, it was a great gig. The work itself, though, wore me down and I just eventually got to the point where I just wasn't productive. So, I did the responsible thing for everyone and stepped down, so that I could properly recover, and so they could get someone more productive.
So, what am I going to do now? For starters, I don't plan on getting another full-time development job again for at least a month, but probably longer. Instead, I'm ramping up the sales of my soaps that I make, and am thinking about including a few crochet projects (since crochet afghans sell for $150 or more, and the act of making them is soothing to me, so I'm making them anyway). In the long run, as I start regaining my cognition and productivity with programming, I plan on writing a tool that helps crafters keep track of inventory and determine costs and what not.
I'm pretty confident that this is a good move for me, especially right now. It's a bit of a challenge to live just on my husband's income, but I think we'll be able to handle it.
