5 is red
7 is yellow
5 is red
That's the color of the digits five, seven, and five.
I see them in my head that way.
I see colors for the digits zero through nine.
They don't change into other colors or blend when they
are next to each other as larger numbers.
The number 253 for instance is tan, red, green.
Or 181 is black, orange, black.
Each digit in my head has a color.
The colors aren't outside me.
I don't see the colors superimposed or radiating from the numbers
on a page or screen.
The colors of the digits happen when I see the digits and say the
name of the digits.
5 + 7 = 12.
12 is a dozen.
Eggs are measured in dozens.
Doing the dozens is an insult game.
5 + 5 = 10.
Ten is an even number.
A dime = 10 cents.
I used to have a dime bank when I was little.
It looked like a cash register.
I thought, when I took my dimes to the bank, that they had a place
where they kept all my dimes.
There are 7 days in a week.
The 5/7/5 of the title referred to the syllables in each line of a haiku.
I count syllables with my fingers.
The first line is all my fingers.
The middle line is one hand's worth plus two more on the other hand.
And the last line, of course, is just a hand's worth, again.
