Anyone who has read any of my threads in the past knows that my fascination with Star Wars is no secret.
Star Wars is a universe that has been my escape since I was four years old. I am partial to the Dark Side and I feel that in a blog I can go into reasons why. I have read a good majority of the books, specifically those written by Timothy Zahn and Karen Traviss and in all honesty I love the books more than I do the movies, but "The Empire Strikes Back" is still the greatest Star Wars movie of all time in my opinion, nothing will ever top it in both production and storytelling.
My fascination with the Dark Side began when I received a huge two feet tall AT-AT (All Terrain Attack Transport) for Christmas when I was seven years old. I absolutely adored that walker and I played with it every chance I got, I made the blaster sounds and had it stomp on Snowspeeders and anything else I felt like crushing.
My love for the Dark Side isn't received well by many people though, they view that if I can like the Dark Side, I must be sick and twisted on the inside. Well, most people are extremely ignorant when it comes to the Dark Side, it is extremely less restrictive than the jedi code (which by the way deals in absolutes itself, something the jedi accuse the Sith of constantly) with the Dark Side, you are free to harness your knowledge of the Force to use as you see fit, it doesn't necessarily have to be used for "evil."
Most people don't know that the old republic and ancient jedi order hunted down the Sith species to extinction, for such a "peaceful" order they certainly don't show it in their actions.
I also prefer the original trilogy over the new garbage, but I'll get to that in detail in a second.
The cross guard lightsaber design isn't something brand new, it was used in ancient Sith designs that dated all the way back to the "Great Scourge of Malachor." The two vents on the side were to remove excess heat from the hilt preventing it from exploding, they also protected the wielders hands from harm.
I am a huge fan of the Galactic Empire as well, and unfortunately with the new trilogy screwing up the canon timeline, we never got to see Grand Admiral Thrawn and the reincarnated Emperor Sheev Palpatine rule the Empire with an iron fist, that's honestly one of the reasons why I hate the new trilogy, all that book knowledge just thrown down the drain.
Something else that always gets me too, is how in the world Luke and Han were able to wear the Stormtrooper helmets without a swarm of Stormtroopers on the Death Star being alerted to their presence, you see, when you put on a Stormtrooper helmet it scans your skull, memorizing your DNA, so that helmet becomes yours, and if anyone other than you puts it on, a beacon is activated signaling the closest Stormtrooper garrison (or anything Imperial for that matter) and they are pretty much blasted into oblivion.
I mean, I know with 1977 technology they couldn't have added everything in that would have happened from a book standpoint, but still, it aggravates me every time I watch that scene.
I also know of the different types of glorious Super Star Destroyer classes: the Malevolent class, the Executor class, the Ultra class, Eclipse class, and finally the Sovereign class.
It's a shame that such firepower and beauty was never shown in the movies other than the beautiful "Executor" that was Darth Vader's personal flagship gifted to him by the Emperor.
I should probably wrap this up before I write a novel, the point is Star Wars is amazing and I'm not the average fan.
