I read Spinning Compass' post on Poverty. It ain't pretty, it ain't good. I dislike the idea of being hungry just to do what I love, like for example, writing. So I do not purposely seek empty dreams if this means I will be living in poverty.
However, I do not chase money alone, either. I do not chase money at their face value. I am seeking to be more 'me'.Fifty hats, 3 pairs of Nike cargo shorts, 23 singlets, and finally - 6 college football jerseys, 6 college basketball jersey
I do not use credit, for example, because I want to 'feel' the money I spent. I also do not go out to impress others, because my strengths are not in physical attraction, it is more in my smile and cheerfulness with other people.
I think I will still be the same person even if I got something in the tune of US$22,000 every month. (Now I have roughly one-hundredth of that every month)
For starters, I will keep in mind that cash is king. So I will pay in cash whenever I can. But if I have to use plastic, I have to control it, not let the card control me - in short, I will spend while being mindful of what I have left.
Then, I will really try to fit into my lifestyle choices with my money.
I can perhaps go to regular trips to any place I want to go, most likely a whirlwind trip to Sydney, Auckland, Winnipeg, London and maybe Belfast. I am ok with any sort of cars, as long as I can sit in them reliably. But thinking about it, actualy the 'richer' I am, the less likely I will travel - because I am not used to the weather of other places, for the time being.
I can probably afford anything I want to eat. Most likely, though, I'll dine in Subway, Starbucks and Domino's Pizza. Pretty similar to what I am having now, only maybe more often whenever necessary.
I will still stay at home if I return home. Even more so if I got more money, because I feel comfortable there. Maybe to get some fresh air, I can consider hang out more in my 'hood, but that's all. I will pay for household expenses, plus my own.
Most importantly, I hope I can have a larger collection of clothes. Maybe I'll have a large (maybe 100) collection of Pro Club white tees, 15 Dickies shorts, a couple of (8) cool Jordan or Nike basketball shorts, 6 pairs of Jordan 3s, Nike Air Force Ones white-on-white shoes and Asics running shoes... And 5 more New Era 59 s. Add in a hoody or two. Oh, that should be all. Less than 10% of my take-home pay every year. Not bad.
In addition, things are much simpler with money. it's me with my money, no matter how cumbersome it is to carry the dough around.
One question I have in mind to all is,
'Do you control your money, or let money control you?'
This is something which we can all consider.
