And so, personally as an admin of an autism forum, I will open all my reasons of disagreeing with some members on having attitudes that is detrimental for the good of our forum.
In the past and presently, I keep a black list of members who are not allowed to join the forum, based on past and present evidence of selfishness against the good of the autism community.
I may had mentioned in one forum, most autistic people are good, friendly and rational. But for those who don't, they'll first be warned, and then if appropriate corrective action is not taken, they'll be forced out of our group.
Indeed, it is disappointing that a few members are now out of our group, despite their immense ability, just because they demonstrated a marked lack of empathy.
One case involves a student studying in a publicly-funded university in Singapore. He should have the intellect to understand that some autistic people are highly capable but yet have stims. We do not want him around to correct our stims, even though admittedly they are socially inappropriate.
But he refuses to see the point, and then the unthinkable happens...
"If I was an autistic who is successful, why should I be seen with you guys."
So even when that person concerned achieves success, it is some success that is 'normal'. It doesn't involve his pizzazz or unique being, which, to me it's a disappointment, and then to some it's just sheer arrogance and/or ignorance. Then what is the use of him living in this Earth? Fitting in a square peg into a round hole?
Now we know better. In future, if anyone had the propensity to say this sort of comments, seeing AS as a problem and not as just something that's part of us or a gift (that makes the rest of the forum comfortable), then we will not have the person in the forum.
