StopTober...

So I've been watching T.V a lot (as usual, since I am a complete couch potato), and those of you in the UK will know about the StopTober adverts. I have one thing to say to that scheme: go away. For those who haven't heard of it: StopTober is an annual event that happens in October where people stop smoking for 28 days and (apparently) you're 5 times more likely to quit for good if you do it. For me it has the precise opposite effect. Every single time I see that advert I immediately crave a cigarette. In fact, I'm smoking one right now! I don't want to quit! I wish the media would stop trying to force the issue, it's really rather irritating. I'm fit, I'm healthy, I'm active, and it just so happens that I smoke! What is so wrong with that?! Ugh! It gets me so annoyed when you're outside smoking, even when you're being all considerate and putting your butts in the trash, people still give you dirty looks like you're some kind of criminal. What? What am I doing? I'm not shooting up drugs, I'm not wandering the streets naked and drunk or stealing things, I'm only having a cigarette! Honestly! Rant over.

You speak the truth. When I see an old movie where everyone is smoking I need to grab for my cigarettes right away. I don't smoke around non smokers, so it's nobody's business as far as I'm concerned. I'm fortunate because I can get my cigarettes from a reserve store and a carton is one third the price of buying it anywhere else. I'd hate to have to choose between food and my smokes.
