Once upon a time, a long time ago, I had visions of a beautiful, safe place. I suppose it will be the safest place in the world, if it ever comes into being. I believe it's existence will make the entire world safer than it would be without it.
The one thing that I saw that did the most to convince me of how safe it is was a vision about an earthquake.
I am watching an earthquake that makes a split in the ground. It has jagged edges and runs through the Earth like a zipper opening up. It is headed towards the fence line along the edge of The Place. There is one fence post that is not in line with the rest of the fence posts and it sticks out a little towards the split in the earth. The split goes right up to the line of fence posts and past the fence post that sticks out and stops neatly at the line of the other posts. The post that had been sticking out past the other posts is left dangling from the wires, held up by the two adjacent posts.
I had been wondering what good it would do to have The Place if any despot with weapons could take it over or it would be hit by a plethora of natural disasters like the rest of the world will be soon. That vision was my answer.
I understood that vision to mean that The Place would have its borders protected and it would be very safe.
Like many others who have experienced difficulties with portions of the human race, I would probably do pretty well as a hermit and have to force myself to make any effort to maintain contact with other people. This means the safety of The Place is tempered by the presence of other people. I have whined to Gd about how I would much rather start The Place with just myself and my cats and maybe a dog and a few other animals. That didn't do any good. Sometimes Gd pays attention to my whining and sometimes not. This has been a not time about The Place.
I can't say I have given in on this issue with good grace, but I have mostly given in anyway. It isn't all up to me, so if I get a chance to have a place in the country with my cats, I will go for it.
Several people have expressed a desire to be a part of The Place, when it starts. I have lost touch with all of them, but most of us agreed that if they heard about it getting started they planned to show up. People change their minds a lot, so I don't feel at all confident that it won't end up with my cats and I after all.
I have told all of the people who expressed a desire to participate in The Place about the visions about it. These people are from all different religions and backgrounds and ethnic groups, so they would not normally choose each other for company. I take this to mean that The Place is meant to be non-exclusive and let all sorts of people in. Parts of the visions back this idea up.
One of the most charming bits I have Seen about The Place is a dining hall. At least one wall is unpeeled logs. The wall is adorned with pottery mugs. No two mugs are alike. As people enter, they go to the wall and take down their mug. People who need to leave for a while find their mug waiting when they return.
The mugs are made in a pottery building. The guy in charge is a sort of informal counselor, who talks to people who need to talk to somebody like him. He helps them make pottery while they talk. The pottery making is soothing and helps the people along with the talking. Many of the people in The Place make their own personal mugs.
The whole dining hall and the food served there are pretty special. The cooks turn out great meals all the time. Most of it is not fancy, but it is delicious and varies greatly and there is a big selection. A whole selection is not available around the clock, but there is always something for someone to satisfy their hunger if they missed mealtime.
There is a lot more that I know about The Place and I will share as I have time and inclination.
