There are over 3000 colleges and universities in the United States.
That doesn't even count the online schools.
So how does an autistic high school student (and their parents) decide where to go to college, or even if college is the right choice for them.
I have a 15 year old daughter so this issue has recently become very important at our house.
As any good freelance writer, I started doing research. Then I realized that there may be a lot of other parents out there who are also looking for this type of information.
I decided that for the month of February I am going to post a list of 1 or 2 post-secondary education options for autistic students.
These will be universities, colleges, online programs or 2 year programs that are recommended by experts in the field.
I have consolidated lists from sources like Forbes, CBS News, US News & World Report and other reputable sources.
I have also cross checked these lists against online recommendations by autism organizations such as the US Autism and Aspergers Association.
If you are interested in seeing each school individually please like my Facebook Page to see them posted each day.
Otherwise I will post a weekly roundup here starting Friday February 7.
If you have any colleges you would like to suggest, please leave a comment below and I will check into them.
