1963 Ford Allegro concept car

The first Mustang was based on the Ford Falcon. In my picture, you can see both styling that was shared with the original platform and what was known to become the Mustang.
The original clay bucked body shape for the Mustang had two different halves, one a bit too futuristic to be made inexpensively, the other that went on to become the car known and loved by many. Full scaled clay models were used to identify exactly what the drawing proposed it would be.The sheet metal forming engineers determined if it could be stamped and welded that way for ease of production or strength. Often times engineering would determine a car could not be made that way and made many changes to suit the stamping and building process. The chosen side of the original buck was only altered slightly on the roof line and entered production as the 1964 1/2 Mustang otherwise intact.

I love it this is one of the reasons man needs people like us. to keep information alive that other people would forget.
