Some of those pieces look like the parts in the erector set
my father had when he was a boy. He used to let me
play with it.

@tree That is correct,it is Gilbert Erector set parts.
The engine was built for my digger dragster that is in this same album.
I had 5 hours involved in the design and build of the engine alone.

There is a Gilbert Erector set airplane in this album that was built specifically to display my new old stock 1960 Gilbert nitromethane model airplane engine.

The digger was made out of the leftover parts from the haul I made from a local yardsale that was bought to build the airplane.
Some of the parts were from a 1938 set,with other parts out of sets sold in the early 70s.
