How Do Aspies Progress Beyond Social & Emotional Immaturity?

I hope that anyone Aspie who reads this won't be insulted. I bought a book called Social Rules for Kids and was surprised to find that it has so many good ideas that Aspies may relate to. I found it helpful for myself. Here's the Amazon link: Social Rules for Kids-The Top 100 Social Rules...

Apergers medications and other mental conditions

Maybe we need to ask what exactly "working" means? There are meds I've been on for well over a third of my life. I don't know that they're "working." I know that they provide comfort in some way, or maybe I'm just accustomed to them. After a point, what do we really know? Episto-chemistry?

Which Insects Do You Like/Hate ??

I try to get rid of any roaches I happen to see. Most spiders are fine. I love ladybugs. I once had an infestation of aphids on our roses and thought I'd have to spray. I checked on them a while later, and a squadron of ladybugs had flown in and eaten them all up. Wow.

What are your favourite Christmas songs?

Christmas is a really loathsome holiday -- It's a celebration of greed and unnecessary sentimentalizing. But, I like having some time off from work.

What are your favourite Christmas songs?

Since Christmas songs are inescapable this time of year, I like "Last Christmas" by Wham and the John Lennon/Yoko Ono song.

    The last thing you bought?

I bought a Tegan and Sara CD -- they're new to me, and I like bands fronted by females, like Garbage, Amanda Palmer, The Dead Weather, Metric, The Sounds, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, P J Harvey, Brody Dalle. Just love 'em. I also bought two pairs of warm socks for walking.

The last 'thing' that made you emotional, destroying the DSM....?

Sad emotional: My mom dying suddenly in 2007. Happy emotional: Making love with an old lover two years ago, a surprise. Humans seem to like emotion -- it's popular on TV and featured prominently.

How long did it take for you to accept you were autistic?

I was greatly relieved when the pieces all fell together. I did some research on the characteristics and immediately accepted it. For decades I'd wondered if I was insane or going mad or countless other explanations. Once I learned about Asperger's, my childhood and adult patterns all made sense.
