Alternatives to ABA

When I read a scientific article or a textbook on physics (this is one of my hobbies) I turn the TV off, so I'm not much different from you in this respect.
Fortunately, my reasoning ability never collapses, but this is not true for all NTs. Some NTs cannot deliver a speech in front of a large audience, some cannot make their point clear in a fast developing situation such as making adjustments to a project on the fly, for instance.
Perhaps I am a closet NT. 🤔 <joke>

I am on the spectrum with serious issues:
(An estimated) 70% of autistic ppl have ADHD. Guilty as charged.
(AE) 80% have Executive Dysfunction. Guilty as charged.
In addition to these "gifts", *cough*, I also have a poor working memory.
Working memory, a cognitive system with limited capacity[8] that retains and manipulates multiple pieces of transient information, has been found to be affected in individuals with ASD.
Ppl on the spectrum, who are not in my group, should consider themselves lucky. 🍀
It is a damned nightmare.

Personally, I don't think that the differences between people with ASD1 and NT are not as high as the majority of psychologists suggest. But this is just little me against the psychological establishment.
We are all entitled to our own opinion.

Yes, I have noticed your attitude towards the psychiatric profession.
It is relatively common.

Even with high functioning aspies, there is a spectrum of abilities.
Intellectually, I am in the more advanced group.
When it comes to practical functioning in the real world, not so much.

I don't understand the emphasis on eye contact. I don't look people in the eye a lot, I find it intrusive and stressful, and only one autistic person who has been through ABA ever said there is anything wrong with it. It's a made up problem. As long as the other person knows you're listening and you're looking roughly in their direction and showing signs of interest, it's fine. Never had a problem with that.

Also... no, I don't relate to any of the communication difficulties listed above as well as most symptoms proposed by psychologists. For sure not slow processing, I'm "the big brain" person.

Noises don't bother me when reading, but when I have to do something that is hard. I can't focus or don't know what to say when stressed, but it's a normal stress reaction.

I have a big problem with American psychiatrists – 80% of them adhere to Dr. Freud’s psychoanalytical babble. I have read several of his books; nothing of what he says makes sense to me, he contradicts himself on numerous occasions.

I don’t know if there is a connection between ABA and psychoanalysis, but if there is one, I recommend patients to stop ABA treatment right away.

The situation is different in Europe, only 20% of European psychiatrists pay credence to Freud’s brainchild, so I don’t have an opinion about the treatments of various conditions that they offer.

Let’s say an autistic woman makes an eye contact with an NT man and maintains it for 70% of time during the conversation (I saw the figure, 70%, in several articles designed to “help” autistic people to establish relationships with NTs). Let’s also assume that he doesn’t know that she’s autistic.

For an NT man this is one of the strongest signals that a woman has feelings for him. Naturally, he’ll be acting accordingly, which could be very confusing for her.

I don’t know what kind of an idiot would give this advice to autistic people, but I really want him/her to have a discussion with me at this forum. Are there NT psychologists at the forum?

I always thought Freud was an idiot even told a woman 40 years ago a tenant in my rooming house who was getting
a masters degree in psychology, she was wasting her time, she was going on about Freud. I wonder what happened to her. Either way Freud was more a psychologist than a psychiatrist. To this day I do not respect psychology.
consider it an immature science, much like economics.

I've read somewhere that if you maintain long unbroken eye contact in both human and animal world it means one of the two things: "I want to have sex with you" or "I want to kill you". Life experiences tell me that it's usually true, with the exception that it's not about killing but preparing for physical violence.

I don't think there are any NT psychologists here.

I noticed that if you look for too long into a cat's eyes she runs away. Nobody wants to get raped!

I'm a bit disappointed that there are no NT psychologists and psychiatrists here. This is a place where they can gather useful and practical data instead of pulling unrealistic theories out of their certain body part.
