I love seeing working dogs do what they were bred to do. And I live in an area where a lot of people hunt. I know some people in general are not ok with it but it’s pretty normal to us here.

Watching these dogs completely freeze on point is really eerie but completely awesome.

Amazing lack of snow.

Yes, it was 55 degrees today and everything has melted. But it’s supposed to snow again on Friday :/

@Gerontius I posted the videos I was talking about, if you want to watch them they’re in the “what is your pet doing” thread. I think you mentioned to me before that you have some hunting/shooting experience.

We will be participating in a field trial in March. Enzo has come a long way and matured a lot so I will be trying for his Junior Hunter title. He is my first Pointer and my first hunting dog but I’ve been doing this stuff with my friend’s Pointers for a while now.

I've hunted before but was never really good at it--that was before I wore glasses, so if the light was wrong I couldn't see the game, or maybe couldn't see my gun-sights. Hunting is a one-way ticket to being an animal-loving environmentalist, though, if you're not careful! Which is what might've happened.

I don't always talk about hunting because I kind of gave up on it for awhile--and because it was very stressful all the getting ready & all that. But out in the forest was some of the few times I was really at peace so that was great. And I have loved tracking animals in the snow this winter, but left my shotgun behind me in a different state so forget doing any hunting now.
