That stinks, do you have a written contract? If it says April in the contract they can't really do much.

this not helps you, but in my country it´s usually a 3 month dismissal period, but don´t know how it is for houses.

I mean that would be still mean, but I would never sign a contract, when not read it properly. and usually I take it home for 1 day minimum to read word for word and make a copy. and best is to read it again, because in theory they could give you another contract the next time.

in germany usually you have to give a dismissal 3 months before you want to move out. so until end of december for 1th april I think. so maybe that´s the 3 months they are talking about? but I think that´s only speculation. you have to read the contract and I guess it counts what stands in it.

They can't change the time period on the lease as they wish, if you hired it for 12 months then it's 12 months if it says 12 in the lease.

when there is april in the contract, then I would just move out and when they write you a bill, I would write them that you refuse the costs, because it´s not in the contract + sending them a copy of the contract. and when they would refuse that too, then they would need go to the court and the court decides, or?

usually I doubt that they can change anything without your sign. and when they would fake it, then would it be a crime, at least in germany.
so without a written contract with your sign, they can´t demand anything IMO. so maybe call with them again and maybe they really made a mistake?
