NyQuil is approximately 10% alcohol. It’s a slippery slope for someone in recovery.

OK, I wish I had some Benadryl. That any better? I don’t want to get drunk, I want to sleep.

Benedryl is problematic for me. It's too easily abused for me.

@Judge, I see it in the article.
Useful article, though. Thanks for that.

Therefore, medications like Benadryl (which is an OTC antihistamine) might be fine for the general population, but not for you. Benadryl and other OTC antihistamines can alter your mood and make it tempting to abuse it. If you require an antihistamine, you should use Allegra, Claritin or another type of non-sedating antihistamine.

Fine, send Mike Tyson to my place and have him knock me out.

Agree with @Rodafina Consider something milder than Benadryl...like a full dose of Cetrizine or Loratidine. Relieve symptoms, without Mike Tyson.

Get Avomine. It's an antisickness pill for vertigo, but its main side effect is drowsiness, and believe me, it can make you so drowsy that you're guaranteed a full night's sleep. Just take one tablet once and it will work within 2 hours. That's what I do if I've had too many insomnic nights.

Using Avomine as an off-label sleep aid is not a good idea for people in recovery.

Medication that is classified as "non addictive" does not mean it is safe for people who are in recovery.

I'm not trying to control you, @Metalhead, but I can't help but speak up.
