Now I know I'll be screwed because I'm stuck in perpetual homelessness with a constant loop of begging for help, being refused and developing hatred towards everybody for it so I guess I'm going to end up starving to death.

You mention being upset.
What upset you?
They were going to fill the tank, but then he asked why you needed gas.

So, were you already having feelings before the person asked why?
Or what?

Sigh...no. I asked the person, he had to finish filling his own car. When done, he walked with me back to ours. He pulled out his card to pay at the pump for enough to fill up OUR tank, but before he ACTUALLY PUT THE CARD IN THE MACHINE, he abruptly asked "why do you need gas?"

To which I said "We are on E, been riding around town trying to find help all day today." He then says "I got a better idea". Comes back with THREE DOLLARS. Teetering on an empty gas tank, $3 is not enough to keep the car running. So yeah, I was not happy about him pretending to be so ignorant.
