Friendly rivalry between Australia and New Zealand brings out a lot of funny examples of this:

I get an urge to correct people's spelling because it frustrates when people can't spell. I figure that if it's okay for people to tell me to cheer up and that always gets justified, then why ain't it okay for me to correct people's spelling?

Yes I have. Most folks don’t like to be corrected. Some are even committed to mispronunciation! In the US, nuclear is a common one mistakenly pronounced new-que-ler 🤪

Yeah. It's a instinctual thing for some people to be rather offended by being told they are pronouncing something wrong. Typically with them saying "flip you" immediately in response. (Replace 'flip' with the associated curse word.)

It's kinda funny really. :P

I like my spelling being corrected. I hate making spelling mistakes so I much rather be told so then I'll learn. If someone is foreign or dyslexic then I can let them off but otherwise in this day and age of spell check and autocorrect it's amazing how many people can't spell properly on the internet.
But I suck at math and maybe that annoys people too, which is okay with me.
