It's weird since in mirrors, I look completely fine.

Pictures always make people look kind of off due to various factors. The kind of camera lens that is being used, the lighting, the pose, you're seeing yourself in "reverse"/standstill versus in a mirror you are "moving" and "alive". The image of you in a mirror is more accurate than a photo.

My memory is fudged up on the specific details that could explain it better, but the jist is that the image you see in a mirror is how you see yourself most of the time. When you take a photo + with the factors I've listed + other stuff I can't quite recall, that image you have in your head kind of takes you aback.
