Studying for until late 20s to the detriment of dating/social life

    Yet another passive-aggressive reply?

Studying for until late 20s to the detriment of dating/social life

To me this seems like a completely different issue. I must be imagining things then, because it seems completely different in my eyes.

Studying for until late 20s to the detriment of dating/social life

It does not feel at all to me to be the same thing as my other threads. Unless I am seeing something completely different to what others are seeing?

Nice passive-aggressiveness. Maybe San Francisco's style is spreading to other parts of the world.

Studying for until late 20s to the detriment of dating/social life

I think that my situation is a bit known here, so I will skip it. Anyway I spent most of my life, since age 4 or 5 up to age 28 studying hard, to the detriment of both my dating and social life. If you can call it that, because usually I have had no dating nor social life. In high school I was...

What are your feelings about Valentine's Day?

The worst day of the year. Based on my other threads I am sure that one can figure out why. I pretend that 14 February does not exist.

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

When my parents hug me I usually allow it, but not really reciprocate. When extended family try to hug or do the two kisses on the cheek I usually withdraw. Since I did this often since I was a boy, I am known for this and extended family usually consider me a weirdo. When I do go on dates...

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

Well it depends. I kind of have it in my head that everyone can be a potential pickpocket, robber or someone who just has bad intentions towards me. Or that they just want to screw me over in some way. When I was 12, I had to go to this school dance because it was the last year of primary...

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

Well I do not understand any of these neurotypical "dances". Nor can I do literal dancing, e.g. tango, waltz, etc. My ideal would be if I were told robotically that someone were going to touch me soon, so that I could prepare and not be shocked. Of course, no one would put up with this though.

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

I see, I had never thought of that before. I think that lately I have been increasingly paranoid and suspicious of other people, so it does not help. I suppose that in the rare cases that I do go on dates, I already start from a suspicious and paranoid mindset. By default, I do not trust her...

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

Of course I want friends, but my quirks make it quite hard, plus I do not live in a conducive environment. Same goes for dating relationships. At the back of my mind I also have suspicions that I am being touched to be made fun of or humiliated. My instant reactions about withdrawing...

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

If you mean non-romantic touch, there was one time during my holiday a few weeks ago when I was on a train. The woman who sat next to me suddenly tapped me on the shoulder and asked how to use the electrical socket on the table. Since I was reading, I got surprised and I immediately jumped...

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

...my first instinct is to think that the person is a pickpocket or some other type. If it is a date situation I usually think to myself, "What the f*ck?". In those other instances like in high school when a girl would try to touch my hand, I would usually jump in surprise and think, "What are...

Virginity problem running in the family

I have never seen that show. At first I thought that you meant Frankenstein as in the zombie. Because some people have told me that before. Just focussing on academics however gets lonely very quickly.

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

A bit. My mother also has problems with touching, but not as bad, and she seemed to handle the rest okay. At least I think so. I seem to be probably the most socially awkward one of the family.

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

No, I do not remember doing so. I am quite poor at explaining things, especially feelings. Not to mention when I get surprised like this, I just say nothing. I kind of just freeze and stay still, silent. I am painfully shy right now, but back then I was extremely shy.

Unable to tolerate casual touching (dating)

I have heard over and over how touch is key in the dating world, and that no touch means no attraction. However, as a 30 year old male, I never felt comfortable with casual touch. When I was 14 in high school, a girl kept trying to talk to me. Eventually, one day, when I was eating lunch alone...

Feeling depressed due to being single at 30

In high school, I did not want to take more years of P.E. (gym) nor take electives like art. So, I asked the school administration if I could substitute all of those requirements for foreign languages. They let me, and I took a few years each of Spanish, Mandarin Chinese and German. The...

Virginity problem running in the family

If you visited now, you might not recognise the city. I grew up here, and even I can see that it looks nothing like how it used to look even 10 years ago. The TransAmerica building and the Bank of America building Downtown are no longer the tallest buildings in the city--there is a new...
