Rigid or Black and White Thinking, Anybody?

This is kinda hard to explain but hear me out. So, I consider myself as someone who can see the grey area's in life, but during the last few arguments with my friend, she said that I'm either one way or the other. Um, let me try to explain. So we fight sometimes and it's usually because I get...

    Difficulty putting thoughts to words

So, I'm a smart person (also, very humble XD). For instance, I have an advanced vocabulary (but weird grammar) and I know a lot of complicated and long words, but if you were to ask me what facade meant, I couldn't put it into words. I know the meaning and could put it into a sentence, but I...

    Advice about speaking

Hey, I need some advice. People get upset with me a lot. That they get too lost in conversation with me. I know I tend to switch topics a lot, but I also seem to speak half sentences. Like, in my mind it makes sense and I say it out loud, but no one else knows what I'm talking about. Am I not...

    Reverse Tunnel Vision?

So I suffer from something I call reverse tunnel vision. Basically, I can see the interactions of others and usually tell whats going on if someone is angry, flirting, etc. I can then tell the other person(s) if the interaction was important, what someone was trying to get across and help them...

    Anniversaries are dumb

Does anyone else think anniversaries are dumb? Like, you're celebrating being in a relationship with someone for a set amount of time, like it was an accomplishment. Is it such a hardship to be with someone, that you need to count the months and years? I think it's stupid. If you have someone...

    Don't seem autistic

So this is an issue I've come across a few times now, since my diagnosis. People sometimes tell me that I don't seem autistic or I don't act any different than others. I have a hard time trying to understand what to say in these situations. Hmm, let me give an example. I am in a work program...

    Taste Changes

Hi, I was wondering if anyone experienced taste changes like I do. Let me explain, Often, I find food tastes different. Like, I love marble cheese, but sometimes when I eat it, it tastes sour or buttery. I cannot eat it then. Blueberries will sometimes taste dusty or mouldy, peaches taste like...

    Making people uncomfortable

So I was with my family and best friend yesterday at a luncheon when a conversation broke out between my brother and friend. You see, I know I have the unfortunate habit of staring at people, usually when they are talking, eating or otherwise moving. I am just drawn to movement. Other times I...

Not sure how to handle this...

So, I'm not very good with handling people who are upset. When it's something small, I can usually feign sympathy and give very uncomfortable hugs and that enough. But... Well a few days ago my step-father passed away (suicide), and while this was quite a shock when I first heard about it, I...

    Obsessed with fanfiction

I love fanfiction, I have since I discovered it. Unfortunately, other people seem to hate on it quite a bit and I have difficulty explaining why I read it. When I get a new 'interest', there are often no books on the subject and it is the only way I can read what I want. The thing is, I have a...

    Not Aspergers anymore?

So when I was diagnosed a few months ago the specialist said that they did not use terms like Aspergers anymore. He said it was just Autism Spectrum Disorder and that doctors were moving away from those classifications. He was reluctant to even call me High Functioning since it was a term that...

    Feeling kind of lost...

So I recently got a full and proper diagnosis, the specialist confirmed it and spoke with my psychiatrist about it. The problem? Well now he doesn't think he's qualified to treat me and the specialist is only for diagnoses and consultation. There are no plans to transfer me anywhere else and I...

    Just venting family issue

I just need to talk about an issue I have. I recently told my mother about my ASD diagnoses and at first she was understanding but the next day she told me that the doctor was wrong. She says that before my abuse (When I was 4+) I was a perfectly normal child 'who didn't mind playing alone'...

*Little* Things That Annoy You (Pet Peeves)

Does anyone else have unusual things that bother them? Um, let me explain, I get very angry and upset when I see an ad/commercial that assumes it knows what I think like 'You've always wanted to travel to blank...' And I'm like no. No NO NO. I've never wanted to do that. Don't assume you know...

    Finally going to be diagnosed

So finally, I now have an appointment to be assessed in May. It's with a wonderful doctor apparently and I am very excited. My therapist said that if I get a positive diagnoses (which he said is quite likely) that they can then transfer me to more appropriate programs. Can't wait :)

    Never dated

Hello, I'm 28 and have never dated or been in a relationship. People call me Asexual but I don't know if that is right. I want to date but I have never met anyone that I have had any romantic or intimate attraction to. I have never had a crush or imagined kissing a person. I think it would...

    Common in Aspies?

As a child when I got anxious or over whelmed I became very 'silly' and inappropriate. I often had to leave class or was put in time-out. Even as a teenager, this was a huge problem. I know meltdowns are common when overwhelmed or stressed, and though I had those quite often, they only happened...

    An email to my mother

So recently, because of family issues I am experiencing I felt it would be best to write an email to my mother explaining so things. I would very much like feedback from you all. I know this may come off as personal and I've left a few lines out. I want to know if this might come off as hurtful...

    New shows, movies and books

I find that a lot of people get upset with me when I don't watch the show/movie they recommend or read a book that they wanted me to read. They say that I am not trusting their opinion on media or something. I only watch things I've seem before and have a very difficult time even trying to get...
