    Animal Facts that are surprising/amazing/weird

Speaking of skunks; I recently built a skunk den in my back yard. My next door neighbor had a family of skunks living under her back deck. She was planning on having them exterminated because their dogs kept getting sprayed. I built the three room den and placed a trail of food bits from her...

Emotional awakenings through music, and the Magic Sword

Indeed, I have many similar experiences with many different music performances, including Queen, ELP, Alan parsons project - especially the Edgar Allan Poe album. But the most profound occurred many years ago. I witnessed a symphony concert with a violin concerto staring Nadja...

How did you learn to fully embrace your autism?

(I wanted to respond to this much earlier, but couldn't because of my work schedule.) This is the part of autism that really upsets me. The automatic societal assumption that autism is a badge of shame. Looking down on someone because of any "different" trait; complexion, heritage, or...

    Small Stories About Animals

I'm very happy to announce that we have a family of skunks living in our back yard! They originally was living under my neighbors deck. The neighbor planned to have them exterminated. I couldn't stand the thought so I built a three room den for them. I placed a trail of food from my neighbors...

    Dream job survey!

I really like that you said, "other animals". :) I am disturbed by the common attitude that humans are so far above other animals resulting in the distinction that there are animals and there are humans; as if humans are not low enough to be considered an animal. Reality check: Humans are...

    Dream job survey!

Very surprisingly, I ended up with my life long dream job as an electronics design engineer. Didn't have any plotted out path, just relentless love and devotion to the subject got me there. If that had never worked out, my second choice would be a career in horology.

    Meme

Does that mean that it would be normal if you listen to the same song more than 272 times or less than 272 times? 272 times would be quite low for me.

    Current book(s) you're reading?

Just finished reading "Unbuild Walls" by Silky Shah. Fantastic book chronologizing the history of immigration and culture. Currently reading "We Loved It All: A Memory of Life" by Lydia Millet. I always prefer hardback books, but will tolerate a paper back is hardback is not available.

Where would you rather watch movies?

I have been to quite a few theaters and have found that if you have been to one theater, then you have only been to one theater. In my experience they are not all the same. Most are not very pleasant. Seats too close together, very crowded conditions, gross people sitting too close and they play...

How did you feel when you discovered that you were, or suspected you were, in the spectrum?

By the time of my diagnosis, I had already lived the bulk of my life, so there was no intent or hope of any sort of excuse. Long past that. For me, it was like opening up the sky, clearing the clouds away. It was the answer to my life. It was like waking up from a full life time of living in a...

    Chello

Hi and welcome. I think you will find lots of friends here. Your description of why you suspect you may be autistic is a good description of me. Makes me feel I'm not alone! Thank you for that! However, I never finished college. My social anxiety is at crippling levels making college impossible...

    The play script analogy

Probably doesn't feel like it to you, but you are in deed a winner. You have touched my life - in that while the circumstances are totally different, my life struggles and successes are along that same line. I totally relate. Thank you for sharing!
