My raspberry Pi adblocker died. I had to set it all up again on a new SD card. Its up and running again but as usually Raspberry Pis are a constant source of frustration. Hopefully it won't go down for another 4 years lol! :-)

The first time I went to IKEA it was like a baffling ordeal for me. I had no idea how it worked. I figured it out eventually. Now when I go to IKEA I walk straight in through the exit and I don't bother with the labyrinthium show room area lol!

I kinda like the way Polaroid photos make everything look like it came from the 70s/80s I do have a couple of film cameras. One has an unfinished roll of film and assuming its still viable, it should have a few pictures of my cat on it from 8-9 years ago. I really should get it developed.

Yeah, the original Polaroid went bankrupt and some enthusiasts bought up some of the machines that produced the film and eventually managed to get the brand back. They were initially known as the Impossible Project. I had no idea that the world of Polaroid photography was so complicated lol! :-)

I'm kinda looking at Instax Fujifilm cameras at the moment. They don't quite have the retro chic of Polaroid but they are a little less pricey when it comes to film. Polaroid just seem a bit more romantic though. I guess I could get an older Polaroid and any savings can fund some film :-)

I kinda want a Polaroid instant camera. But damn! The film is expensive! 8 exposures for like £13!? But the cameras look so funky and I like the idea of committing to a shot and the analogue aesthetic. There's other instant cameras but I don't find them as appealing. Wonder if there's generic...

Gaming campaign mode vs MP modes poll!

Star Trek Voyager EF was the only game I was actually good at. I'm not even sure how I got so good at it. I suppose running round in not matches helped me improve with aim and avoiding getting hit. I did hit a point with the bot matches where I would just sweep through and dispatch all the...

Gaming campaign mode vs MP modes poll!

I've seen people do crazy combos on fighting games that I could never hope to do. I don't often play fighting games, but I have a Neo Geo MVS system that has some and I just can't make it past the first round lol! That's also possibly because the settings of the arcade board are stuck on a...

Gaming campaign mode vs MP modes poll!

Thats how I started out with it. I was actually very good at playing it and I could wipe out all the bots in seconds. My favorite weapon was the phaser rifle, I remember hitting the alt button to use the most powerful attack but at just the right cadence to avoid it losing power. We didn't even...

Gaming campaign mode vs MP modes poll!

That's what the Star Wars game was I think lol! I did play the online version of Star Trek Voyager Elite Force a very long time ago, but that was maybe a decade before everyone had headsets and the thing I fear the most (beyond being basically rubbish) is the chat features and having to deal...

Gaming campaign mode vs MP modes poll!

When I can actually find the energy to play a video game, I prefer the main campaign or story mode. Online multiplayer scares the heck out of me. I am so fearful that I will find myself in the midst of a multiplayer game that I will even disconnect from the internet to avoid it. I once bought...

Weird items that you panic if lost, broken etc

I hate misplacing scissors. I always worry that they will show up in the worst possible way and cause an injury. Scissors seem to like to run away and hide every time you put them down. I also get panicked if I misplace a sewing needle or craft knife. I was very careful about sewing needles...

Yup. To be fair I had always suspected that they were doing that regardless of what options I had set. I have heard of GrapheneOS but I'm going to try that on my old phone maybe to see how well it works before I jump in with my other devices :-)

I'm starting to de-google my devices. I'm a bit annoyed with some of Google's recent decisions and I think a bit of a recalibration of my digital dependencies is in order. I'm using an open source keyboard on my phone to type this and so far it seems pretty good :-)

I've heard some similar rumours about the Glastonbury festival. I've heard everyone that goes there wanders around in a perpetual state of misery. They always seem so happy when it's over.

If I remember the Stradivarius violins were built from wood that was cut at a particular time where due to some unique weather events, the grain of the wood was tighter. I think also that they haven't been able to replicate the glue used either.

The only reason why they sell for so much is that the materials used to build them can't be replicated. There is also this idea that if you are a pro violinist, you won't be respected unless you have one. There's a lot of debate as to whether are not they truly sound better.

Do you agree that Technology is going too far?

Yeah, they had to pull it. I fully expect that the AI aggregation news app will be shelved for a very long time. Generally Apple retires products that fail that spectacularly. It will probably reappear in a few years as basically an AI curated news feed, basically the same as you get currently...
