33, male, UK. Known aspie since 2014.

Hello all.

I'm 33, male and live in the Peak District in the UK.

First time I was made aware of asperger was in 2014 when my therapist noticed some traits of asperger in me. I had to battle with my GP and the NHS to get tested/diagnosed as initially there was not much interest to progress my quires further. I got officially diagnosed with HFA/asperger syndrome in December 2014.

Since then I have been looking for answers, to help me understand past events, to help me understand my current state of mind, and to equip me with skills for the future.

I look forward to interacting with you all, having found this group and commenting on some threads this looks a place I can "fit in".

Welcome aboard :)

Welcome overthehills,

Is your avatar a close up picture of a chicken eye ?

Glad you noticed my avatar, changed it now to something more suitable for this group.

You didn't have to change it, I just wanted to know what kind of eyeball was looking back at me whenever I was reading one of your posts.......

Unless I miss my guess, the old avatar was the eye of one of the barred breeds of chickens, Silver Laced Wyandotte or, as they are called in the south Dominickers.

My awareness and diagnosis is very similar. I found it made a lot of sense of my very painful childhood. I've since read some reports that were kept from me saying there is no point trying to work out why I was behaving that way due to an unstable, volatile home life. I hope you had an easier time growing up.
