A love for noises?

I have hyperacute hearing and my brother also shows some traits of aspergers, but LOVES lots of loud noises. Is this what others experience too? I know everyone on the spectrum is different and am just wondering if there are some who just...LOVE lots of noise.

I personally hate lots of noise. Like you said though, everybody on the spectrum is different. In particular, I hate intermittent loud noise. If something loud is coming, I need to know beforehand so I can prepare for it. Otherwise, if gives me a lot of anxiety.

It's the same for me. Everyone else in the house will think the tv is just right or not loud enough and I'm covering my ears because the sound is too loud. Of course, it's not just the tv nor is it just loud noises - not loud for others anyway. The hum of electrical outlets, people eating - including myself, shading when in art -the noise of the pencil on paper, and several other sounds.

In a way there's some noises I do like and other's that drive me crazy. For example I love the noise of coyotes when their outside at night playing around as well as the sound of a train horn and the low rumbling of it passing by :D These helped me sleep at night countless times ...

I'm personally hypersensitive to noise. I can't stand most of the sounds in my surrounding. TV's always too loud for me, I hate buzz-noises, I hate people who talk loudly (funny enough, that's something I do too). When I have to much stimuli going on I have to make sounds myself (when walking the stairs, walking in general, opening cupboards, just silly things)

Believe me, I completely understand. It almost as if by making some noises yourself...they balance out. However..I wish that was my reaction. Instead I cover my ears and close my eyes and sometimes if the noises are too intense I go into a meltdown or rage..

I can listen for hours to the sound of American fire trucks, because I love the federal Q siren and the air horn!
Some call it noise, I call it awesome!

And no, the volume isn't low when I'm watching those beautiful trucks.

I should have said sounds, but was thinking noises at the time because my brother screams and yells all the time. He always has to have the sounds up on game systems or the TV. He says it makes things more real...

I love lots of noise when it's my own noise and I have control over it. Otherwise I can't deal with it at all

No, I'm sorry that that sentence confused you, yes it is noise, sirens are noise. But I love that kind of noise! :)

What if it is where you have control of how loud things can be on a game or something?

Well, it's still "my" noise. Perhaps I should've elaborated in that it doesn't need to be that I make the noise myself (like hitting a drum), but just in general, as long as the noise I'm hearing is something I have direct influence on; like watching tv, a movie, ringtones on cellphones.. I can turn those down or off.

Okay. So basically as long as you can influence them. Because..my brother loves loud and I can't stand it..which become problematic when he's causing loud sounds and I can't leave the room or anything.

See and they drive me crazy and make me have meltdowns but I love the way a bouncy ball sounds when rolled back and forth on a hard surface. I could listen to that forever.

Heh, yeah... the noise thing is why I'm not so sure if I could ever live with someone and actually share an entire house, since it means that I would have to put up with noise (just as much as this other person would need to put up with my noise)

The control thing mentioned above is a very big thing for me too. If it's a noise that I can control, I have less problems with it. But if it's a noise somebody else is making, that I have no control over, I think that has a big psychological effect on me. I think I'm extra sensitive to loud noises to begin with though.

Now that I think about it, when I can control noise I am fine too. I think maybe it is just that he likes loud ad when the loud is gone...he has a meltdown, but when the noise is loud..I have a meltdown, so either way, my parents don't know how to handle it.

I generally like quiet, but I love going to the air show at the air force base and hearing those fighter jets kick in the afterburner! Also love the sound of the cars at a NASCAR race. Don't really care for surprise loud noises like almost getting struck by lightening or a balloon popping.

Only if i am in the right operating mode for them.
I like to make fart noises and burps and bubbling
sounds and the like, sometimes I bubble in my
milk or apple juice to make myself laff.
