A new interest: ARGs, lost media & "Every copy of [insert name of game] is personalized"

Don't ask why I have a new sudden interest in these things because it just kind of happened. Out of these three the "personalized game copy" videos have become my favorite. I know they're fake but It's so intriguing to think that people have access to old proof-of-concept builds of games like Mario 64 & Sonic games, and i know the psychological horror parts are made by the people who do these videos but i like to think of it as a form of "abstract horror" art, in that you can tell its a creepypasta but it's unique in that it's a series of creepypastas made one after the other, unlike "other" written creepypastas that just have one specific, linear beginning middle and end to it.

As for lost media, that's kinda right next to the personal copy interest, but what's fun about this is not only trying to solve the mystery about a game/movie/tv show episode that got lost, but also that its just as easy to make up something that supposedly got lost and tell people it is, as it is to try and solve tbe mystery of something that actually IS lost.

ARGs are a special case. They stand for "Alternate Reality Game" and basically they are a list of clues on an app of some sort, that you have to physically look for in the real world and solve there. I feel like the "personalized copy" genre of videos on YT could be used to create an ARG of some sort, if you knew how.

FREAKIN' ARGS!!!! Lost media! Freaky video games!

Hoboy I could rant pretty much forever about these. I dont normally talk about them, but I'm very familiar with many. MANY. Too many, just on Youtube alone.

Lemme give you a couple of things here:

There's more than just this video to this one. But you'll have to dig a little on Youtube to get the rest of it. After that, a matter of piecing it all together. This one is very recent and the community has not figured all of it out yet.

This one is my personal favorite. It's also the most difficult to figure out by far. This one video is all you need to start out. Key word there is "start". There is so, SO much more to this, but you'll need the clues in the video to find out where to start in order to find the other content. There is a LOT going on here. Finding all of its secrets by yourself is nigh-impossible, but maybe you'll be up to the challenge anyway.

This one is a series. I think it's fairly obvious as to WHAT it is. Not as bloody confusing as some others.

I've got mixed feelings about this one. On one hand, they freaking nailed the atmosphere and such for it. On the other hand, the story is a convoluted mess with a godawful ending, if you can even call it an ending... kinda killed it for me (and for many others). I'm convinced that even despite all the events in here... there ISNT a coherent story. It's got darned cool aspects, it's got stupidly disappointing aspects. But a lot of people really do love it, so... here it is. Dont expect to figure it out though. The entire dedicated community for it has been studying every bloody frame for AGES, and they have theories... many theories, LOTS of which utterly conflict with all the others. Seriously, I'm 100% convinced that this cannot be "solved", because it has no true solution. A mess, but you might like it.

And there's some others too that I wont link to directly:

Marble Hornets: The big Slenderman one, the one that got it all started, and it also seems to be one of the things that helped popularize the found footage genre as a whole. There are 2 seperate channels and a Twitter account that need to be decoded. Are you good at decryption? Are you REALLY good at it? You'll need to be if you want to figure this one out on your own.

Louise Paxton: One of the earliest of all of them. This one had half the freaking internet fooled, way back when it came out, convinced this girl was REALLY missing and trying to find her. Very horror-themed. I wouldnt want to be in her shoes, that's for sure.

Dont Hug Me I'm Scared: Starts out very innocent... for about 2 minutes. Goes downhill REALLY fast. This one is absolutely stuffed with blink-and-you'll-miss-it bits that are clues as to the full story of what's actually going on, and what it's really about. I've seen this one all the way through about a billionty times. Short but brilliant series. Horror themed but in a unique way.

That's enough for now. Too many good ones out there.
