Remember to wear sunscreen and remember to keep yourselves hydrated.

I have failed at both of those things the last couple of weeks and my body is paying the price.

Hydration is very important! Especially on not only hot days, but humid ones too. You tend to sweat more because of the humidity. So making up for those water reserves is important.

And here I am, it's hot outside, but I'm running the mini heater anyway because this stupid basement is still cold somehow. Particularly that one scary room. It's ALWAYS freezing in there. I've never figured out why. Maybe that's why it's always cold in the basement, it's all seeping out from there.

Also I'll second the bit about hydration. Even during times of the year when it isnt hot out. Just do it anyway.

More extremely important reminders, headed into summer:

As somebody who has paddled a canoe on desert rivers for multi-day trips, hydration is necessary to stay functional and safe. I easily go through a gallon of water a day.

Basements are often cold because they are underground and soil is a very good insulator. The sun doesn't heat it up. And the moisture content in basement air is often high because of concrete walls, that makes the air colder.

I used to live in a house where my bedroom was downstairs. Even in the summers, it got so chilly down there that I had to warm up. But then when you go upstairs, it’d be so hot. So yeah sometimes depending on where you live it can be unpleasant like that… Anyway yeah be hydrated. Heat exhaustion is bad to deal with
