Self-diagnosed 48 yo female, and the more i read the more convinced i'm an Aspie. Thought of myself as an alien - or even mentally challenged - most of my life. My relatives just called me shy. i've presented myself as fairly 'normal' if one overlooks my inability to make friends or be interested in the latest trend or be sociable at all. i prefer solitude with the exception of a mate (currently non-existent) or a single friend.
For the last 5 years i've mostly been an extremely depressed recluse. Recently stumbled upon descriptions of Asperger's and was stunned to realize how many 'symptoms' i have. Needless to say, i am a newbie at this and still have much to learn. But after reading even a few posts here and discovering certain quirks i have are also shared by others makes me feel like i've finally found a tribe who i can relate to.
