Am I the only one who switches very quickly?

Are there any people here who switch between different special interests very fast?

It might have something to do with my ADHD though

Yeah, I do that.

I once read that there are a few typical types of behaviours in Aspies, in terms of interests, or obsessions. Two of the ones that seemed most prominent were:

(a) Aspies who obsess for long periods of time on a single train of thought, or activity (for weeks, months, or even years).

(b) Aspies who have several obsessions/ interests going at the same time, with shorter attention spans, which they then jump between, and replace with new ones occasionally.

I actually started with (a) for the first 17-18 years of my life, and have switched to (b) after :p

I tend to switch around a bit...

However, the moment money is involved it does put the breaks on switching up interests.

I feel I'm a mix between the A & B ones Vanilla addressed. I guess I'm a C then :P

I have interests that stick around for a long period, but I switch around rapidly to change the angle in said interests.

An example would be; I spend a lot of time painting wargaming figures (that could be seen as A) but the B side of this is that I can't stick with the same type of figures too long. I tend to mix it up, end up on different gaming systems, different painting styles. In a sense I guess I'm just spicing it up to keep my main activity interesting. Though I guess if you add in the broader sense of wargaming as a hobby it involves gaming as well. I can be on a gaming kick at times as well and do no painting for a month or so.

Another one of those examples; for a while I was occupied with a... for lack of a better word "art" project. The project was my main obsession, the fact that I should tie together illustration and graphic design, music composition, writing, prop building and a lot of research in different fields, clearly makes it a case of rapidly changing interests. But still with the focus on the main thing for months.

I guess I'm one of those who likes to do any hobby that is multifaceted just to keep it interesting in the long run.
