A man with autism was chased and made fun of by a group of girls in the middle of Doncaster town centre, according to a Facebook post which has gone viral.

According to social media, the adult was chased through the town's Transport Interchange by a group of younger girls yesterday evening - and was forced to flee the taunts by jumping aboard a bus where he reportedly suffered a "meltdown."A post revealing details of the alleged incident has been shared dozens of times on Facebook.

It read: "To the young girls who thought it was funny to chase an adult with autism through Doncaster bus station, onto a bus and then to point and laugh at him through the window whilst he had a meltdown, you are absolute f****** scum and I hope your parents are proud of you!"

"He was on his own. We only know he has autism cos there was once a post on here of people laughing at him calling him all kinds and we've recognised him since."

Commenting on the post, one Facebook user wrote: "This has reduced me to tears, this is why everyone in all schools need to be educated about special needs and autism, a little knowledge goes a long way".

"That poor man, it's hard enough for someone with a disability without stupid kids hounding him like an animal, he must have been terrified."

Another wrote: "That's just shocking. People are so heartless and cruel. Poor soul was probably so afraid and confused."
