Another Good Day

Still full of beans.

It was just too beautiful a day to stay sitting in front of a computer. So I did a load of washing, then jumped on my bike and went for a ride. I followed the Sturt River down to the sea. The river itself is all concreted in, it's a major storm water drain, but along side it is bicycle paths, parks and gardens, and sporting facilities.

Golden Wattle is just coming in to flower. I used to get terrible hayfever from this when I was young but it doesn't bother me any more.

At one place I stopped someone had left their pet rock behind. It didn't seem to be lonely though.

The Sturt River dumps in to the Patawalonga Lakes before finally reaching the sea. This used to be a swamp when I was little but now it's all very expensive real estate.

Then to Glenelg Beach. This is the site of South Australia's first settlement in 1836 and the town hall is from around the same time period.

From there I followed along the beach front until I got back to my own local beach - Brighton. And from there back home.

It's been a great morning. Now I'm kicking back and having lunch and wondering what I feel like doing for the afternoon.

It's a tough life but someone has to live it. :)

I’m glad you had a good day. I loved all the photos you shared with us. I felt like I was there with you in your adventures, which makes me happy.

That Town Hall is a very pretty building.
The beach and the country areas look much like the parks and paths here.
Australia would be nice to see in person.
A lot of diversity.

I've always been attracted to Ayers Rock. Uluru.

But...but...but where are all the crows? :screamcat:
:bird:
We ate them of course. :)

[Edit] cultural reference explanation - interstate rivalry. People in the state John lives in call us Crow Eaters, what we call them isn't PG13 and can't be written here. :)

Thank you Daisy Rose. We're just coming out of Winter here and starting to get weather where I can get out and about again, I don't like the cold. So I should be doing a lot more outings and taking photos soon.

That's a nice area, lots of places to see. Maybe I will vacation in Australia in the future. Wonderful photos!
Adelaide's a pretty city and always very tidy and clean, population 1.1 million.

There's a lot to see on the east coast but it's also an overpopulated and very built up tourism mecca and these days most of it looks no different to much of the US or Europe. The rest of the country is huge.

Climate-wise we cover from 11 degrees south of the equator down to 43 degrees south so we cover a lot of different natural environments, from full tropics to snow every winter, with deserts in between.

Astralians have something Europeans lost, a cute style of dressing. :screamcat:
My style of dress hasn't changed since the 70s and I still don't look out of place here. :)

Along the east coast people are a bit more fashion conscious and like to give themselves airs and graces, the rest of the country is pretty laid back.

I've never been there, for some reason I was never curious about it.

It's a very popular destination though, and so many people were visiting that they were wearing a trench in the soft sandstone climbing to the top. So all climbing on the rock is completely and permanently banned now, to prevent further damage.

@Outdated , seeing pictures like that just makes me want to move somewhere like that!
Adelaide ended up with Australia's highest concentration of British migrants, that and the fact that this city did not start as a penal colony means we have a slightly more upper class English accent than the rest of the country.

It's a pretty diverse city these days though, big enough to have everything you could want but not overcrowded.
